Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to the "Rewrite Lifestyle" FAQ section! We’re here to guide you on your journey toward a healthier and happier life. Below are some commonly asked questions about our bariatric coaching program. If you have any other inquiries, don’t hesitate to reach out!

How much are your programs?

All of our programs have different prices. We’ve got flexible payment options to bring the cost down to manageable monthly payments. We also accept FSA and HSA, and we’ve partnered with Klarna, Afterpay, and Affirm to make payments more manageable. But here’s the thing: this isn’t your average, click-a-button-and-checkout kind of deal. These programs are intense, and we want to make sure they are the right fit for you (and that you’re ready to put in the work). That’s why we go over costs for each of our programs on the phone. Plus, we have other options that might be a better fit for your needs, so it’s easiest to chat and guide you based on where you are in your journey.

Are the programs online?

Yes — 100% online and delivered via Zoom. You can join from anywhere in the world, and we’ll place you in a small group with others on a similar journey.

How intense is the main program?

It’s intensive — and designed to create real, lasting change. Over 3–4 months, you’ll log meals, attend weekly group workshops, and have personalized coaching sessions up to three times a week. If you're ready to commit, we’re here to walk beside you.

Do you only work with people who have had bariatric surgery?

No, we don’t only work with weight loss surgery patients. Many of our clients do have food addiction and may have had surgery, but we also support those on GLP-1 medications or not undergoing any surgery or medication at all. Our focus is on teaching whole foods and creating a sustainable lifestyle. Of course, we help navigate the bariatric journey, but what’s great about The Rewrite is that we’re here to build lasting habits for life, not just get you through the surgery process.

Are your coaches nutritionists?

Some of our coaches are indeed nutritionists. We each have specialties in different areas such as nutrition, therapy or coaching. However, we offer something way more relatable: real-life experience. Just like you, we were once morbidly obese, and we’re here to teach you the exact tools and skills we use every day to keep ourselves on track. We’ve lived it, we get it, and we know what it takes to beat it.

Are you certified life coaches?

One of our team members, Helen, holds a formal life coaching qualification. All Rewrite coaches have been personally trained by our founder, Shenelle — and we coach from lived experience, not just theory. We’ve been where you are, and we get it.

Do you take insurance?

No, we don’t take insurance because food addiction isn’t recognized by the DSM-5, so it’s not something insurance will cover. However, we do accept FSA and HSA. Additionally, we’ve partnered with Klarna and Afterpay to offer flexible payment options, making it easier to invest in your health journey.

What happens after 3 months of the intensive coaching program?

You have options! You can stick around in our community or continue in our alumni program—but in reality, we want you to take what you’ve learned and go test your new food skills in the real world. One thing that makes us different? We’re not here to keep you forever—just long enough to set you up for success. We want you to build confidence, find your rhythm, and live your life with the tools you’ve gained. And if you ever need support down the road, we’re always here.

What are the online workshops like?

Workshops are 60-minute Zoom sessions with a small group (usually around 10 people). We dive into topics like emotional eating, cravings, sweeteners, and self-sabotage. Expect honest conversations, practical tools, and a real sense of community.

What are the 1:1 coaching sessions like?

This is your personal space to get supported, seen, and heard. You’ll meet regularly with your coach to work through whatever’s coming up—emotional eating, mindset blocks, food choices, or life stress. These sessions are where real transformation happens.

Do I have to turn my camera on?

We encourage it! Showing up face-to-face builds connection, trust, and support. But if you need time to feel comfortable, that’s okay too. Come as you are — no judgment here.

What if I have dietary restrictions?

No problem. Whether you're vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free, or managing post-op limitations, we’ll help you find food choices that work for your body and lifestyle. (Always check your plan with your doctor or bariatric team, too.)

Will I lose weight?

Most clients do lose a significant amount of weight — but that’s just the surface. Our focus is on healing your relationship with food, ending the binge-restrict cycle, and building sustainable habits that last. Rewrite is not a diet — it’s a mindset shift.
